The Cake Ace, Duff, on Ace of Cakes

I love baking and decorating cake desserts and I have gotten a lot of my ideas from baking shows. One of the most interesting shows I watch with my satellite tv deal is Ace of Cakes. This show features Duff, the tattooed baker. He is not your average baker and doesn’t care who knows it. Duff bakes and decorates because it is what he likes to do, but he doesn’t believe in only traditional techniques. He is all about the unique designs and structural projects to create an edible masterpiece for many occasions.

There is a variety of people employed at Charm City cakes, and they all work very well together. Each has their gift and they bounce off one another to create beautiful and sometimes rather huge cakes. One of my favorite episodes was when they made a cake for Steven Spielberg; it was a replica of R2D2 from Star Wars Clone Wars, and completely fit for human consumption. They worked very hard on the design, making sure it looked just like he character from the show; they also added a mechanical device so that the cake moved.

I take pride in the cakes I make for my family and friends birthdays and many holidays, and I am pleased to admit that many of my concepts are in part from Duff.
